Perks of the job

One of my favorite parts of my job is getting e-mails from our brides after their weddings with updates. I particularly love the updates that include pictures of what we refer to as "Ashley Baber Weddings babies." Meet Keegan (top) and Natalie, the products of two of our 2006 weddings.

Vickie & Brian

Vickie & Brian were married late in November of 2007 at the Atlanta History Center. Vickie works for the History Center, so she knew exactly what she wanted for her wedding soiree. Her first priority was to incorporate her family and Cuban heritage into the evening. Her Father performed the wedding ceremony. Children were welcome and found little gift bags of toys to entertain them throughout the evening. After the ceremony, Vickie had the special privilege of taking pictures in some of the exhibits at the History Center. As the guests entered the Grand Ballroom, they were greeted by the sounds of a 10 piece salsa band {the fabulous Orchesta Macuba} in addition to the DJ! The gorgeous black and white linens alternating on different size and shape tables were the perfect backdrop for the rich red and pinks florals on each table. The cigar bar was enjoyed by all. The guests showered the newlyweds with flower petals during their last dance which was the perfect ending to an amazing evening- all captured by the very talented Nadia D of Nadia D Photography- thank you for sharing these beautiful images!

AJC Wedding Guide: Spring 2008

The AJC Spring Bridal Guide came out early this month and featured some great info, including an article that Ashley Baber Weddings contributed to titled "Catering to the guests." It talks about the reception trends that ensure your guests enjoy themselves and also gain a sense of your {the bride and groom's} personality. Here are the seven reception trends the Atlanta experts agree are sure to please:
1. Showcase what you are passionate about. Incorporate a little bit of your personality and/or heritage into your reception with things like your famliy origin's regional favorite food {we have a British client serving fish and chips!}. Or treat your male guests to a few of your groom's favorite things- a cigar and cognac bar.
2.Create a lounge area for your guests to relax and mingle.
3. Make cocktail hour fun with interactive bars. Let your guests customize their martinis or champagne drinks with fun accompaniments such as fruit purees and liquors.
4. Be creative with tabletop decor. Gone are the days of a single centerpiece on each table. Mix it up with vases in multiple heights with several varieties and shades of flowers all in the same color family.
5. Replace buffets with interactive food stations. No one likes to wait in line for food. Period. Food stations allow your guests to move around the room and mingle with other guests. The stations also allow your guests to customize their food choices {ie: a pasta station with several types of pasta and sauces to choose from}.
6. Get creative with entertainment. Interactive bands and photobooths topped the list as fun ways to engage and entertain your guests.
7. Supplement the wedding cake with a dessert bar. Not everyone likes cake, so a mini-dessert display, create-your-own ice cream sundae station or espresso bar are a great way to end the evening.

Melissa & Matt

Melissa and Matt were married at Peachtree Christian Church followed by a gorgeous reception at the Georgian Ballroom at the Biltmore on January 5th. Melissa and Matt's weekend was full of fun events including a rehearsal dinner at the ultra-chic Cellar at TWELVE Hotel in Atlantic Station. Melissa chose a sophisticated twist on chocolate brown and pink for her big day and incorporated the colors everywhere- the flowers, the uplighting in the ballroom- even the cake had pink and chocolate Swiss dots! The DJ {Tripp West from Star 94} kept the party going late into the night. And their favors were super cute-- a play on their first names- pink and brown M&M's in coordinating packaging. Thank you to Matt Adcock, Sol Tamargo and Justin English of del Sol Photography for these breath-taking images!
